Easy Floating Bucket Christmas Centerpiece Decoration
As the Holiday season approaches, this is the perfect time to start a creative DIY Christmas project.
Imagine a cozy afternoon crafting a beautiful floating bucket decoration filled with Christmas ornaments with kids.
This simple Dollar Tree craft creates a lovely Christmas centerpiece that looks as though the bucket is magically floating in the air while colorful ornaments spill out beneath it.

If you’ve visited one of my Easter craft posts, you might remember the floating teacup Easter craft I shared.
For that project, I bent a fork and attached it to a cup and saucer to create the illusion of a floating teacup. This Christmas version uses a similar trick with a festive twist.
Now, if you’re wondering, how can a bucket float in midair while Christmas ornaments appear to pour out of it?
It might look tricky at first, but don’t worry! I’ll walk you through the simple technique that makes this magical-looking decoration possible.
Without any further ado let’s start!
Supplies you need:
- Dollar Tree golden charger plate
- Metal bucket
- Candy cane shaped wreath frame
- Gorilla glue and hot gun
- Few packs of colorful Christmas ornaments
- Counterweights

Instructions
For this project, we’ll use a charger plate as a base.
Place the curved rounded hook part of candy cane frame on the plate and bend the long part facing upward, so we can attach the bucket to it.
Once you’ve done, start sticking the bottom part of curved candy cane with the gorilla glue to the base of charger plate. And let it set for overnight.
Similarly attach the bucket to the other end of the wire frame with the same gorilla glue.
While working on this project, you’ll find it difficult to keep it upright because of the weight of the bucket, it keeps falling off.
To prevent this, you need to add some counterbalance to the base. You can use river rocks, pebbles, or brick pieces to add over the curved rounded hook part of candy cane. Later on, we can hide them by placing Christmas ornaments over it.
Now comes the fun part, when we decorate it with ornaments. Take a hot glue gun and start adding ornaments of different sizes to the base, make it thick like a pile of ornaments covering the plate, going up to the bucket.
Don’t forget to add some ornaments inside the bucket to make it look like its pouring in over the pile of ornaments. Tutorial video
You can also add few flowers and other decorative items you like. And it’s done! The centerpiece will look more attractive if you increase the density of ornaments to the base.
